30 Minute Discussions Under the Heat Lamps in the Incubator:

Alan Amavisca
Incarnational Ministry
“And the Word became flesh and lived among us…” some of the most radical words of the Bible. Jesus said, “As the Father sent me, so I send you.” What does it mean to live and do ministry like Jesus?

Plant a Church? Who? Me?!
Friends are planting more kinds of churches in more kinds of communities than we have in many years. We have learned a lot and have a lot to learn. In this incubator we will look at the opportunities, the challenges, and some of the ways that God is using people to plant churches and extend the Kingdom into new places and among new peoples.

Alan Amavisca
Reaching the Dechurched Through Listening
Traditionally we have imagined evangelism as an exercise in talking. God does some interesting things when we listen. Especially with those who feel unheard. Come and explore the impact of listening as a ministry of healing and reconciliation with those who have left the church.

David Byrne
Immigration, America and the Church
Why don’t illegals just go home?  Why don’t people just come to the country legally? Why don’t they learn English?  How has U.S. law contributed to the immigration crisis? What is the church’s message for the immigrant?  How can/should Friends be involved in the immigration issue? Let’s talk about the complexities of Hispanic immigration and share ideas about God’s perspective on this issue, about the people caught up in it, and about what the church can do.

David Frazier
The Heart of Worship
Worship is central to the life of a Christ follower. Over the years, the question "What does authentic worship look like?" has been answered in many different ways. Together, we will share our experiences and knowledge to paint a picture of how God wants to engage our generation in passionate worship for years to come.

Friends Women
Back to the Future
Young women! We know that many of you are as passionate about the great commission and missions as any previous generation. While many of you are going, many of us have a crucial role in sending. So let’s dream together about what methods we should adapt in order to see your generation and your church fully engaged in mobilizing Friends Missions in 2020 with methods that share the same passion but look different than in 1950.

Friends Women
Rebranding
What kinds of activities do you think of when you hear of the “Friends Women” or “Women’s Missionary Fellowship?” As crucial as missions support is for the health of the church and the life of the missions we love, let’s dream together about strategies for rebranding study, communication, prayer and financial support for connecting tomorrow’s church to the heartbeat of missions (local and global).

Mary Heathman
A Friend to Homosexuals
Let’s be Friends to Homosexuals. What would that look like? How do we start?

A Place for Homosexuals - For Church Leaders Only
Evangelical Friends Church—a peaceful place to be for homosexuals as well as the rest of us.  Is that possible?  What could that look like?

In Process: Our Part in the Movement
Tara Healy, Kyle Walkemeyer, Dan Powell, and Melissa Sabo).
We are exploring what our role is in following the movement of God in our lives and community, as well as connecting to the Friends Church. Let’s dream together as we think of some realistic ways we could engage our culture with methods of inviting transformation and restoration through Christ.

Better Together – Doing Leadership Like Jesus Does
Jesus is the greatest leader ever. He is also right here, right now. He can teach us to lead just like he did, and still does. Let’s explore practical ways to serve people like he does by leading them collaboratively instead of authoritatively.  Change the world…together.

Thomas Magee
LinkIn Your Tweet Face
If you are going to make social media a part of your ministry, let's look at some ways to be more efficient about it.  And, how do you "cut yourself off" so that you can attend to people in 3D real-time?

Dan McCracken
A New Community for Friends
What opportunities are we missing among Friends for ministry and connecting to each other? How can youngadultfriends.com help young adults explore what it means to be evangelical Friends in the 21st Century? Can we get connected and stay connected?

David Robinson
Peacemaking Principles – Responding to Conflict Biblically
Before we get into the next slippery slope of conflict, let’s become more aware of the types of escape responses and attack responses that could be transformed by the Gospel into peacemaking responses. A look at Biblical principles outlined by Peacemaker Ministries.

Elizabeth Rogers
The New Face of Modern Day Slavery – New Abolitionists
Quakers have a place in history caring for those who have been affected by slavery.  Today slavery is rampant not just abroad but here in the United States in the form of human sex trafficking.  Let’s talk about ways the Friends Church can respond to this issue right now!

What’s Next?
A lot of conversations have taken place. Once the dust settles, what are the pieces of truth that need to be named and applied to our church? How should the conversations of Summit 2010 effect the Friends Church of 2015 or 2020?
